A Poem A Day For A Year Leads to New Poetry Collection
East Midlands-based writer, Richard Kish, has this month released his second poetry collection called ‘30: A Year of Poems’.
In 2022, the writer wrote a poem a day for a month resulting in the collection, July. 30: A Year of Poems is a spiritual successor with a poem written every day for an entire year to mark Richard’s 30th birthday.
Richard said of the collection, “There’s something about starting a new decade in your life that inspires art. It’s a time of endings and beginnings, and I’ve always loved the lyric from RENT’s Seasons of Love ‘How do you measure, measure a year?’ After the fun I had writing July and with so many changes happening in my life, it felt like a perfect time to attempt the challenge again but even bigger.”
“It’s a time capsule of moments and thoughts and experiences that for a long time I never thought I’d see. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, and despite the depression and anxiety and stress, I feel happy for the first time in forever. This year of poems can stand as a testament that it is possible to get here, that dreams can come true and you can be happy. It might take far longer than you expected, it might still be bumpy and terrifying, but it can happen. If there’s one thing I want people to take away from this collection, it’s that. You can make it, and you will. So please enjoy these 366 poems marking my 30th year on this Earth.”
30: A Year of Poems is available in both paperback and eBook formats and can be purchased on Amazon and Kobo via linktr.ee/richardakish.
